Jamie Bear was a gift from Tim just before I left for home for Thanksgiving Break, 2001. There had not yet been that official boyfriend/girlfriend talk, but he wanted to send something special along with me.
Boy, did my mom have questions ![]()
Questions I couldn’t answer yet because I had never had a boyfriend and he had never had a girlfriend, and we really weren’t sure what we were doing.
Maybe we’re still not sure sometimes ![]()
But I loved that bear. Still do so much. Hardly slept a night without it in 19+ years.
A couple years ago Tim started stealing Jamie. I would come to bed after him and couldn’t find my bear, which I can no longer sleep without after all these years. Come to find him wrapped in sleeping Tim’s arms.
At first I thought it was a game. Thought he was trying to tease me. Irritate me. Get me to go to bed earlier, maybe, so Jamie wouldn’t have a chance to be “stolen.”
Finally a few weeks ago, he tells me. Jamie is cozy. When he sleeps on his side, he wants to hold something. If he had his own stuffed animal, he wouldn’t have to steal Jamie. And if he had to have a stuffie, he’d really prefer a Baby Yoda.
Jamie Bear and Baby Yoda Squishmallow are becoming fast friends. Merry Christmas, hubby.
